Matt Penney PT, DPT, ATC
Matt is the owner of Advanced Sports Therapy LLC while also the owner of Sports Rehabilitation Unlimited LLC in Middleton, MA. He is a licensed physical therapist and athletic trainer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Biology from Tufts University, a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from Columbia University and a Doctor Degree in Physical Therapy from Northeastern University.
Matt is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), American Association of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy (AAOMPT) and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). Matt is currently the Chair of Private Practice Special Interest Group (SIG), while also participating regularly in Shoulder and Manual Therapy SIG meetings.
Matt has trained extensively in the Maitland-Australian Physiotherapy Approach to manual and manipulative therapy. In addition, he is a Level 1 Certified Golf Fitness Instructor through the Titleist Performance Institute and works with the Wellesley Country Club Fitness Center providing rehabilitation services for its members. He has his Level 1 Certification in Blood Flow Restriction Training from Smart Tools.
Matt and the staff at AST provide injury assessment, injury prevention and rehabilitation services for the Dreamfar High School Marathon Team, a locally-based organization dedicated to supporting athletes in marathon training and development. In addition, Matt is a published author in the Sports Medicine Arthroscopic Review and Orthopedic Physical Therapy Practice journals.
Scott Kuhn PT, MS, ATC
Scott is a graduate of The Ohio State University where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training and Master's Degree in Physical Therapy. He is licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as both a physical therapist and certified athletic trainer, and is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the APTA of Massachusetts.
Scott performs duties in the Wellesley clinic as the clinic manager while also coordinating the clinical education for students at Advanced Sports Therapy. While Scott has worked with many collegiate and professional athletes thought his career, he enjoys treating patients of all ages; including adolescent athletes who are trying to improve their sports performance or recover from an injury, as well as seniors hoping to become more active and/or maintain their independence.
He has received advanced training in spinal mobilization and manipulation through a series of Maitland post-graduate educational courses. Scott has also completed the Foundation and Advanced Courses for Integrative Dry Needling and utilizes dry needling to treat a variety of neuromuscular and pain related disorders. Scott is trained in fitting patients for both ALine Performance Insoles and Foot Management custom orthotics. In addition, Scott received his Level 1 Certification in Blood Flow Restriction Training from Smart Tools.
Scott is a published author in Sports Medicine Arthroscopic Review and Centerpoint Magazine.
Will Austin PT, DPT, OCS
Will first became aware of the field of physical therapy after an ACL tear sustained while skiing. During his recovery, he felt at home in the rehab atmosphere alongside active individuals working to return to activities about which they were passionate. He attended and graduated cum laude from Northeastern University's Bouve College of Health Sciences with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.
Will is a licensed physical therapist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He is also Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedics (OCS) byt he American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. He regularly attends Manual Therapy and Shoulder Special Interest Group meetings through the APTA of Massachusetts. As part of AST's affiliation with Wellesley College Health Services, he provides onsite physical therapy to students. Will's advanced certifications include Graston Technique, Selective Functional Movement Assessment and Blood Flow Restriction Training.
Andrea Arabadjis PT, DPT, CSCS
Andrea holds a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Northeastern University's Bouve College of Health Sciences. She is a licensed physical therapist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and a member of the American Physical Therapy Association.
Throughout her clinical education she had the opportunity to work with Division I collegiate athletes, integrating both athletic training and physical therapy concepts into her treatment approach. While she enjoys working with young athletes, she is passionate about helping patients of all ages regain function and improve performance. In addition, Andrea has received additional training in manual therapy from the Maitland-Australian Physiotherapy Approach and received her Level 1 Certification in Blood Flow Restriction Training.
Ashley Pirrone PT, DPT
Ashley was first introduced to AST as a clinical student in the summer of 2017. Currently, Ashley holds a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Biology from the University of New England and a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. She is a licensed physical therapist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, a Certified Personal Trainer, and a member of the American Physical Therapy Association. Ashley is also a certified nutritionist through Precision Nutrition and works locally as a head trainer for Orangetheory Fitness.
Throughout her clinical education she has had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings including pediatrics, neuroscience, outpatient orthopedics, and home care. Ashley’s breadth of experience in addition to her certifications has allowed for a well rounded treatment approach with clients of all ages and fitness levels. Ashley is passionate about helping patients of all ages regain function and improve performance, allowing them to return to activities about which they are most passionate.
Lynda Stockwell is the Office and Billing Manager in Wellesley. She is responsible for all aspects of patient registration, insurance information, billing procedures and office management. After graduating from Bucknell University with a bachelor's degree in Economics, Lynda spent many years working in the property and casualty insurance industry for companies both large and small. She brings to us a wealth of business experience and insurance industry knowledge. She has taken classes in medical billing and coding and earned a certification in medical coding. Lynda also brings a unique perspective on the patient experience. Lynda was initially introduced to the company as a patient in the Boston clinic. After expressing her love of sports and her interest in helping others, she was encouraged to join the company. Lynda will be involved in all business aspects of the Wellesley clinic.
Megan is our Front Desk Associate in Wellesley. She graduated from Framingham State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Food and Nutrition and a minor in Business. Before her position at Advanced Sports Therapy, she had customer service experience working as a Front Desk Receptionist at a health club, and also at the same time was a Nutrition Assistant at a rehab hospital. Working the front desk, Megan will be involved in scheduling appointments and all other aspects of customer service.
Christy is a physical therapy aide at Sports Rehabilitation Unlimited and Advanced Sports Therapy. She graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor's in Health Science, and plans to pursue a Doctorate of Physical Therapy.
Since her start as a physical therapy aide in 2015, Christy has taken on administrative roles in the office, worked as a medical assistant at an orthopedic surgery clinic, and attended educational courses on current therapy practices.
Christy is also a RYT-200 Vinyasa Yoga, and Barre Above teacher at Mission Hill Yoga in Boston.
